Welcome to the School Counseling Department at Quinn Middle School

Our Mission

To assist every student in acquiring skills, knowledge, and attitudes needed to become effective students, responsible citizens, productive workers, and lifelong learners in a global society.

Quinn Middle School’s counseling department will deliver a structured, comprehensive counseling program that supports the school goals through effective communication. By removing barriers, we will provide all students with equal opportunity for success.  Our program focuses on the rapidly changing needs of adolescents and how those needs can affect every aspect of a young person's life.

As students in grades 5-7 work to form an identity, counselors help them to balance these needs within the school setting. The counseling department stresses development in three major areas: academic achievement, career and decision- making, and personal/social development.

Our School Counseling Department is available to answer any questions or concerns.

 2023-2024 School Year:

*Counselors loop with the students through their 3 years at Quinn Middle School.

As School Counselors, we perform the following roles in order to promote positive development in academic, career, and social/emotional domains:

  • Individual and group counseling
  • Classroom lessons in the areas of educational, social/emotional and career information
  • Facilitate and coordinate parent meetings
  • Provide assistance for parents and students with support and informative activities during the transition process from elementary to middle school and middle to high school.
  • Regular communication and parenting information through the web page or school e-letters (via school email).

Here are some reasons students might want to talk to the School Counselor:

  • "I had an argument with my best friend and she doesn't want to be my friend anymore."
  • "Some kids in my science class are talking about fighting after school."
  • "My parents argue all the time and I don't know what to do."
  • "My grandfather is really sick and I'm scared he's going to die."
  • "My mom just had a baby and she doesn't have time for me anymore."
  • "We're moving again!"
  • "My dad wants me to be an engineer like him, but I want to be a pilot."
